Give money back on a bill that has been paid — the sale stays on record, and a manager approves every refund.

Refund a paid bill at the till

  1. Tap Bills in the till's top bar and open the paid bill with View bill.
  2. Tap Refund, pick the payment to give back on, and enter the Amount to refund — all of it (Full) or part — and the reason.
  3. A manager approves with their PIN or staff card.
  4. The refund is recorded against the bill and shows in the day's figures.

The confirmation offers Print the tax credit note — the guest's paper for the refund; it can be printed again from the Refunds list in Manager → Void & Discount (Credit note). It is titled “Tax Credit Note” (“Tax Credit Note · إشعار دائن ضريبي” in a browser print). Against a bill that charged no tax in a country with no VAT (Kuwait, Qatar) it is a plain “Credit Note” (“Credit Note · إشعار دائن”), with no tax-number line unless you have set a tax number.

Deliveries

  • Cancel & refund — on a paid delivery that has not arrived, the till gives back what the customer paid, tender by tender, closes the rider's run and stops the kitchen. A manager approves.
  • A paid delivery that failed is refunded, or re-dispatched, from Manager → Rider Dispatch → Needs attention.

Website orders paid online

Open the order in the till's Online Orders and tap Refund: the money goes back to the customer's card through the payment gateway. Rejecting an order that was paid online opens this Refund form straight away, with the reason Order not fulfilled filled in. Today only the IBEX test gateway is connected, so no real money moves.

Booking fees

A reservation's booking fee is refunded in Manager → Reservations: Refund fee on the booking gives it back the way it was paid, with a manager's PIN. It is offered while the fee is paid, not yet refunded and the guest has not been seated. A booking that carried a fee cannot be deleted — use Cancel booking instead; the fee stays on record until it is refunded.

Important

A refund is a reversing entry, not a deletion — the original sale stays on the record for audit, and both post to Tally.
