How the menu is structured

IBEX organises the menu in three levels, so tax and the till's layout stay simple.

The hierarchy is managed under Admin → Menu Management → Categories:

Tax group
Level 1. Sets the VAT rate for everything under it — e.g. Food at the standard rate, bottled water zero-rated. A group with no rate of its own uses the restaurant's rate.
Category
Level 2. A tab on the till's category rail — e.g. Starters, Grills, Drinks — which can send its items to a kitchen station.
Item
Level 3. A sellable dish with its price, sizes, add-ons, modifier groups and photo. Its VAT follows its category's tax group.

Keep categories to a comfortable number so the till stays quick to scan.

Give each category an Arabic name as well — Name (Arabic) in the Menu Categories window. On an Arabic screen it is the name every category label shows — the till's category rail, the waiter app, your website's category tiles and its Menu page, and the category chips and item badges in Menu Management; a category without one shows the standard translation for a standard name such as Starters, or else its name as typed. Only the words change: filtering, search and counts stay on the English name.

Tip

The till lists the categories in the order they appear under Categories, after All.
