Create modifier groups for an item
Modifier groups let staff customise a line — choose a sauce, a cooking preference, extras — with rules for how many to pick.
Add a group to an item
- Save the item first, then reopen it in Admin → Menu Management and go to Modifier Groups.
- Press Add Group and name it in English and Arabic (e.g. “Choose your sauce”).
- Switch Mandatory on if a choice is required, and set Min and Max.
- Press Add Option for each choice, with its English and Arabic name and any price difference.
The group appears in the item's customise window on the till, the waiter's phone and the website: any group with options, required or optional, makes the dish open that window when it is added. With nothing required, Add to Order (on the website Add to Cart) works at once; a Mandatory group keeps it disabled until it is answered. On the till and the waiter's phone the dish's tile hints +Extras for add-ons or optional choices, and Choice for a required one. Each change is saved as you leave the field.
A modifier group belongs to one item. Another item that needs the same choices gets its own group — there is no shared group library.
Modifier groups are separate from the item's sizes and add-ons on Variants & Add-ons — use whichever reads best for the guest.
