Kitchen stations and print routing

Decide which station cooks each dish — and so which screen tab and printer it goes to.

Updated 30 Sep 2026Menu Management

Your stations are the Print Areas in Admin → System Settings → Printer Targets. Every line of an order is routed to one of them:

  1. The dish's own Kitchen Stations, if set in the item editor (tick two and it prints at both).
  2. Otherwise its category's station, set in Admin → Menu Management → Categories (Auto = decided by the category's name).
  3. Otherwise the name decides — drinks go to beverages, desserts to desserts, grills to the grill, salads and starters to the cold kitchen — and anything else goes to the order's default station.
  1. Add your stations with Add Area under Print Areas.
  2. Set each category's station under Categories; override single dishes in the item editor.
  3. Give each station a kitchen printer (Add Printer → Kitchen → its station).
  4. Send a test order and check each line lands on the right tab and printer.
Note

No dish is ever dropped: a line routed to a station you don't have goes to one of your print areas instead, and Admin lists the categories this happens to so you can fix them.
